According to a report from the Nikkei newspaper on Thursday, Microsoft Corp (MSFT. O) has announced that it will provide the Japanese government with artificial intelligence technology. This comes after Microsoft improved the processing power of its data centers located within the country. The technology, developed by Microsoft-backed startup OpenAI, will be made available on a trial basis by Japan's Digital Agency starting in the autumn.
It will be used for tasks such as preparing minutes and analyzing government statistics. This deployment marks the first overseas implementation of Microsoft's technology outside of Europe, as reported by Nikkei. Additionally, industry leaders in artificial intelligence, including OpenAI, Microsoft, Alphabet's Google, and Anthropic, are launching a forum to support the safe and responsible development of large machine-learning models, as announced on Wednesday.
