Beijing (Gasgoo) — ModelBest, a technology company specializing in AI, recently announced the successful completion of a new financing round that raised several hundred million yuan. This funding will accelerate the company’s efforts to commercialize efficient AI large models, with a particular focus on edge computing applications. Established in August 2022, ModelBest had previously secured tens of millions of yuan in angel investment in April 2023, followed by another major funding round amounting to hundreds of millions of yuan in April 2024. ModelBest has gained recognition as an innovator in AI large model technology and its real-world applications. In November 2023, the company launched its multimodal large model service named Luca.

Subsequently, in February 2024, it released MiniCPM, an open-source model designed for edge-side deployment. MiniCPM incorporates features such as unlimited text processing, ultra-clear OCR, and real-time video understanding directly on edge devices, achieving over 3 million downloads since its launch. The company’s business scope now covers AI phones, AI PCs, intelligent cockpits, smart homes, and embodied robotics, facilitated through collaborations with industry leaders including Huawei, MediaTek, Lenovo, Intel, Great Wall Motor, and Yeelight. Noteworthy is ModelBest’s September 2024 strategic cooperation agreement with Great Wall Motor aimed at developing AI large model applications within the automotive industry.
