Amazon has extensively utilized AI for more than 25 years to enhance customer experiences. AI powers various aspects of our operations, including personalized recommendations for customers, efficient processes in fulfillment centers, drone deliveries, conversational capabilities of Alexa, and the convenience of our checkout-free Amazon Go stores. We firmly believe that generative AI will revolutionize customer experiences across the board. In the past year, we have introduced several new generative AI-driven features in our store to make shopping even easier and more convenient. For instance, our AI-generated review highlights provide customers with a quick overview of common themes from numerous reviews, helping them gain valuable insights swiftly. We have also introduced the Fit Review Highlights feature, which offers personalized size guidance and insights to help customers select the right size. Furthermore, we leverage generative AI to enhance product listings by assisting selling partners in creating engaging titles and descriptions, as well as enriching existing listings. Building on these AI advancements, we are thrilled to announce the launch of Rufus, a generative AI-powered expert shopping assistant. Rufus has been trained using Amazon's vast product catalog, customer reviews, community Q&As, and web data to provide valuable answers, comparisons, and recommendations based on customer queries and context. From initial research on specific products like running shoes to detailed questions about durability, Rufus significantly improves the ease of finding and discovering the best products to meet customers' needs, seamlessly integrated into the familiar Amazon shopping experience. Rufus is being introduced in beta and will be gradually rolled out to our U. S. customers, starting with a select group using our mobile app. With Rufus, customers can now shop alongside an AI-powered expert knowledgeable about Amazon's selection and equipped with information from the web, empowering them to make more informed purchase decisions.

Rufus will be available to eligible customers during their next Amazon Shopping app update. To engage with Rufus, beta customers can simply type or speak their queries into the search bar in the Amazon mobile app, and a Rufus chat dialog box will appear at the bottom of the screen. Customers can expand the dialog box to view answers, tap suggested questions, and ask follow-up queries. At any point, customers can dismiss Rufus and return to traditional search results by swiping down to send the chat dialog box to the bottom of the screen. Rufus generates responses using relevant information from Amazon and the web to assist customers in making better shopping decisions. As generative AI is still in its early stages, the technology may not always provide perfect responses. However, we are continuously improving our AI models and refining Rufus' responses to ensure ongoing assistance. Customers are encouraged to provide feedback by rating answers and offering additional comments. We are excited about the potential of generative AI and will continue to test new features to enhance the ease of finding, researching, and purchasing products in Amazon's store. We look forward to gradually introducing Rufus to more U. S. customers in the coming weeks. Read more
