Anthropic Releases Desktop App for Claude AI Chatbot

Claude, the AI chatbot developed by Anthropic, now has a desktop application available for download on both Mac and Windows for free from Anthropic's website. Recently, Anthropic launched the public beta of its “computer use” feature, enabling the Claude 3. 5 Sonnet model to interact with a computer by observing the screen, moving the cursor, clicking on items, and typing. However, this functionality is not accessible through the app. Furthermore, Anthropic is introducing dictation support in Claude's Android and iOS applications, allowing users to pose questions via voice commands. The desktop version of Claude closely resembles the web version, enabling users to easily ask questions, access previous conversations, and view starred chats.
It simply offers the added convenience of initiating a chat with Claude directly from your desktop without having to navigate to the website. Other AI chatbots, such as OpenAI's ChatGPT and Perplexity's AI search engine, already feature desktop applications, while Microsoft Copilot is integrated into Windows 11. Recently, ChatGPT's desktop app also introduced support for an advanced voice mode.
