Genuine Marketing Group Inc. (GMGZ) announced the beta launch of its blockchain-based platform, ZPTAG, designed for the cannabis industry. The company is partnering with Ignite Dispensary to pilot this technology at select locations in Wisconsin. This announcement was made Monday morning at the Benzinga Cannabis Capital Conference in Chicago, a key event that gathers investors, operators, and executives from the cannabis sector. Starting June 20, the beta program will feature nine SKUs, including pre-rolls, gummies, and infused snack mixes, each tagged with unique identifiers that enable full lifecycle tracking. The ZPTAG platform ensures seed-to-sale transparency by providing real-time access to product certifications, lab results, and logistics milestones through a mobile app. GMGZ states that the system is designed to enhance government compliance, improve supply chain visibility, and build consumer trust. It builds on the company’s earlier work with Carbon Intensity (CI) scoring, applying similar principles to reward responsible operators within the regulated cannabis market. “We are excited to launch our cannabis initiatives with Ignite Dispensary and collaborate closely with our long-time partner and industry expert, Tim Frey, ” said Chuck Chastain, CEO of Genuine Marketing Group.
“His expertise and meticulous attention to detail are crucial for GMG, and I can think of no better way to ensure ZPTAG benefits the industry. ” Timothy Frey, founder of Ignite Dispensary, emphasized the partnership’s alignment with his company’s commitment to transparency and building consumer confidence. “ZPTAG allows us to elevate this by providing an easy way to see exactly what you’re getting and why we stand behind it, ” Frey said. “It’s another step toward enhancing the customer experience and strengthening trust in our community. ” Initially, the beta will rollout across Ignite’s Wisconsin operations, with plans to extend to other hemp-derived and cannabis products such as THC-infused beverages, tinctures, and flower. A wider national rollout is anticipated in late 2025 and early 2026. Photo: Shutterstock
