Google Launches New Chromebooks with Advanced AI Features

Google has unveiled two new Chromebooks: Samsung’s Galaxy Chromebook Plus and Lenovo’s Chromebook Duet 11, introducing a new Quick Insert button that provides quick access to its latest AI features. The Quick Insert button will replace the search/launcher button on select Chromebooks, beginning with the Galaxy Chromebook Plus. It offers direct access to various AI tools, such as “Help me write” for drafting emails and memos, and serves as a gateway for quickly retrieving links from recent websites, searching Google Drive files, and accessing favorite GIFs and emojis. This comes after Microsoft introduced a similar Copilot key on its laptops. In addition to Quick Insert, Google is rolling out several other AI features for premium Chromebooks this month. These include “Help me read, ” which summarizes texts, Live Translate for real-time captions in over 100 languages, and a Recorder app that transcribes conversations and identifies speakers. Notably, the Welcome Recap feature will benefit all Chromebooks by providing an overview of recent activity and suggestions for upcoming tasks upon powering up. The Galaxy Chromebook Plus showcases these features with its sleek aluminum body, weighing 2. 58 pounds and measuring just 0. 46 inches thick, making it the lightest and thinnest Chromebook from either brand. It features a stunning 15. 6-inch OLED display, a full keyboard with a numpad, and is powered by an Intel Core i3 processor with 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage.

The estimated battery life is 13 hours. Meanwhile, the Lenovo Chromebook Duet 11 retains its portable and versatile nature from its 2020 predecessor. Though it lacks the Quick Insert button, it supports all new ChromeOS features. It features a detachable magnetic keyboard and a 10. 9-inch touchscreen. Equipped with a MediaTek Kompanio 838 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB storage, the Duet is suited for light productivity tasks. It has dual webcams and boasts a battery life of 12 hours. An education edition is also available with added durability. Both laptops will be available this month, starting at $699 for the Galaxy Chromebook Plus and $340 for the Duet 11, which is lower than initially announced.
