Microsoft Introduces Copilot Pages for Multiplayer AI Collaboration

Today, Microsoft is unveiling its new Copilot Pages feature, which aims to serve as a platform for “multiplayer AI collaboration. ” With Copilot Pages, users can engage with Microsoft's Copilot chatbot and collect responses on a new page that facilitates collaborative editing with team members. “You and your team can collaborate on a page using Copilot, observing each other's contributions in real-time and working alongside Copilot as a partner, enriching your Page with additional content from your data, files, and the web, ” explains Jared Spataro, corporate vice president of AI at Microsoft. “This represents a completely new work model — multiplayer, blending human and AI contributions. ” The rollout of Pages begins today for Microsoft 365 Copilot customers, with general availability for all subscribers slated for later this month. This feature is built upon Microsoft’s existing collaborative efforts with Loop, a competitor to Notion that offers innovative, Lego-like Office documents. You have the capability to share Copilot Pages via a link, enabling colleagues to begin editing them instantly, similar to how they would with a shared Word document. Additionally, you can embed Copilot Pages within other pages as components. Connected to Microsoft’s new BizChat, a collaboration hub for Copilot, you can also retrieve data from the internet or work files to draft project plans, meeting notes, business pitches, and more. Microsoft envisions Copilot Pages as a novel workflow that integrates human and AI input onto a single canvas. Moreover, Microsoft is extending access to Copilot Pages to over 400 million users who can utilize the free Copilot chatbot by signing in with a business Microsoft Entra account.
This move is part of a broader initiative to enhance Copilot's functionality for businesses, which includes refining the AI companion across various Office applications. For more details on the improvements in Office apps, you can refer to the information available. Today also marks the launch of Copilot agents for all businesses. Initially announced at Build earlier this year, these agents function like virtual employees to automate tasks. Unlike the traditional Copilot sitting idle for queries like a chatbot, these agents can proactively monitor email inboxes and carry out a variety of tasks or data entry processes that employees usually perform manually. Subscribers of Microsoft 365 Copilot will gain access to a new agent builder within Copilot Studio. “Now, anyone can easily create a Copilot agent right in BizChat or SharePoint, tapping into the extensive knowledge stored in your SharePoint files, ” states Spataro. The agents are meant to function as virtual colleagues in Teams or Outlook, allowing users to @ mention them and pose questions.
