CoreWeave Expands Global GPU Data Centers with Major AI and HPC Investments

Brief news summary

CoreWeave is aggressively expanding its data center footprint across the U.S. and Europe, aiming for 32 data centers and 250,000 GPUs by 2025—more than doubling its 2024 capacity of 15 centers. The company has established its London headquarters and multiple UK data centers to better serve European clients. Key investments include a $1.2 billion, 280,000 sq. ft. facility in Kenilworth, New Jersey, and a $1.6 billion supercomputer center in Plano, Texas, built for Nvidia and housing over 3,500 H100 GPUs powering the world’s fastest AI system in 2023. To meet growing enterprise demand, CoreWeave rents HPC capacity from Core Scientific. In late 2024, it partnered with Canadian AI startup Cohere to develop a multi-billion-dollar data center, further broadening its AI capabilities. The UK expansion continues in 2025 with new centers featuring Nvidia H200 GPUs. Financially, CoreWeave’s 2024 revenue heavily depends on major clients, especially Microsoft, which accounts for 62% of its revenue. Through rapid growth, strategic investments, and advanced infrastructure, CoreWeave is solidifying its position as a key AI and cloud computing leader.

CoreWeave has quickly become a key player in the data center industry, expanding its global presence across the United States and Europe. By 2025, the company operates 32 data centers with a total of 250, 000 GPUs, a significant jump from 2024, when it ran 13 U. S. data centers and only two in the United Kingdom. CoreWeave established a new London headquarters in 2024 and opened two UK data centers, signaling a deeper commitment to European clients and infrastructure growth on the continent. That year also saw a major investment in a 280, 000-square-foot data center in Kenilworth, New Jersey, valued at $1. 2 billion, marking one of the company’s largest infrastructure projects. Its portfolio features flexible leasing arrangements, hosting multiple clients in some centers while dedicating others to single clients or projects. A prime example is CoreWeave’s exclusive $1. 6 billion supercomputer data center for Nvidia in Plano, Texas. This 450, 000-square-foot facility houses over 3, 500 Nvidia H100 GPUs, powering advanced AI workloads.

Announced in September 2023, this supercomputer was recognized as the world’s fastest AI system at the time. Besides owning extensive infrastructure, CoreWeave expands capacity by leasing high-performance computing (HPC) resources from Core Scientific, enabling it to meet increasing demand from enterprise customers. In December 2024, Canadian AI startup Cohere revealed plans for a multi-billion-dollar data center to be built and operated by CoreWeave, highlighting the company’s growing influence in AI and its capability to support cutting-edge R&D through tailored data center solutions. Further strengthening its UK presence, CoreWeave announced in January 2025 the launch of two new data centers equipped with Nvidia’s latest Hopper GPUs (Nvidia H200). Developed throughout 2024, these facilities demonstrate CoreWeave’s commitment to integrating next-generation GPU technology to address advanced computing needs for European clients. Financially, in 2024, CoreWeave’s revenue was concentrated, with its top two clients generating 77% of total income—Microsoft alone accounted for 62%. This reliance underscores CoreWeave’s role as a critical infrastructure provider to major tech firms demanding specialized high-performance computing resources. CoreWeave’s rapid growth and substantial investments in high-capacity data centers highlight its vital role in the expanding AI and cloud computing sectors. By leveraging strategic partnerships and continuously upgrading hardware infrastructure, the company is well-positioned to support the computational needs of leading global enterprises and innovators. As AI workloads become increasingly complex and prevalent, CoreWeave’s extensive GPU resources and expansive data center network will remain central to delivering advanced solutions for next-generation technology applications.
