She believes in the need for universal governance on AI safety, even if it means compromising with governments they fundamentally disagree with. Vestager sees the U. S. -EU Trade and Technology Council as a platform to generate ideas for other forums and emphasizes the swift implementation of the G7 code of conduct on AI through a common monitoring and evaluation system. She argues that democratic governments should invest strategically in fields like AI and clean tech while managing markets to include trustworthy companies. Vestager criticizes Apple for attempting to circumvent new EU rules for "gatekeeper" tech companies.
