Videos shared on social media often feature individuals dressed as doctors, providing advice on natural remedies and teeth whitening. However, many of these "doctors" are not real, but rather AI-generated bots, spreading misinformation to their large followings. For instance, one AI-generated bot on Facebook claimed that chia seeds could control diabetes, generating millions of clicks and shares. While chia seeds do have positive health effects, there is no scientific evidence that they can cure diabetes. These fake doctors also share beauty tips and health hacks, especially in Hindi. India has become a hotspot for health misinformation during the COVID-19 pandemic, attributed to high internet usage and lower digital competence.

The impersonation of doctors by AI-generated bots can be misleading, as it creates a sense of authority. These bots often make false claims to promote products or services. For example, an AI-generated doctor on Instagram claimed that a specific recipe could heal any brain disease, which was debunked by medical experts. Artificial intelligence also poses risks in manipulating medical images and diagnostic tools, creating realistic but false results. Despite these risks, AI has played a significant role in medicine, aiding in diagnosis and treatment. It is crucial for users to verify information from reliable sources, such as certified operators or scientific studies, and to remain skeptical of unknown sources.
