Sameer Maskey, CEO of AI company Fusemachines, grew up in Kathmandu, Nepal with minimal access to technology. However, after experiencing the internet for the first time while studying in the United States in 1998, he became fascinated with language translation and pursued a Ph. D. in computer science at Columbia University. He later founded Fusemachines in 2013 and has collaborated with organizations like TIME, OTG, H&M, and the City of New York, providing industry-specific AI solutions across various sectors. Fusemachines offers products such as AI Studio and AI Engines, focusing on generative AI for enterprises. Maskey noticed that many clients were struggling to see return on investment (ROI) due to low system accuracy, leading him to develop highly-tuned solutions tailored to specific industries and use cases.

These solutions have improved the accuracy of AI systems and increased ROI for end users. Maskey believes that AI-driven tools can give consumers greater control over their personal finances, fostering financial literacy and independence. He sees AI as a transformative force in the personal finance industry, automating processes and streamlining tasks for greater efficiency. In addition to his work in AI, Maskey is also passionate about providing AI education to underserved communities. Fusemachines established an AI fellowship program in 2017, training over 800 fellows from 12 countries. Maskey believes that AI education can empower communities economically, lead to improved ROI, economic growth, and reduced unemployment rates. He also emphasizes the importance of leveraging AI education to foster innovation and inclusivity in less privileged areas.
