With Messenger, connecting with important people in your life is easy, whether you're sending Reels to friends or video calling loved ones. Globally, users spend over 7 billion minutes daily on calls via Facebook and Messenger, and we're continually enhancing the experience. Today, we're introducing new Messenger Calling features, including some of our most requested. Calling is now simpler, more reliable, and more enjoyable. AI Backgrounds in Video Calling In September, we launched tools to personalize Messenger chat themes with AI-generated images from Meta AI. Soon, you’ll be able to use AI backgrounds in Messenger video calls for personal expression or added excitement. To create your custom AI background, tap the effects icon in the sidebar during your video call and select "Backgrounds. " HD Video Calls and Noise Suppression We are rolling out HD video calls, background noise suppression, and voice isolation to provide clearer, higher-quality calls on Messenger.
Digital communication will feel more like being in the same room. HD will be the default for video calls on WiFi. To enable HD on cellular data, open call settings and turn on "Mobile data for HD video. " You can activate background noise suppression and voice isolation in the Messenger call settings. Audio and Video Messages Messenger Calling increasingly resembles a full-featured phone with extra enhancements. Now, you can send audio or video voice messages when your friends are unavailable. Tap the "Record message" button to send an audio message for unanswered audio calls or a video message for unanswered video calls. Hands-Free Calling and Messaging When your hands are busy or your phone is out of reach, you can now use Siri for calls and messages. Just say, "Hey Siri, send a message to Cassandra on Messenger, " and dictate your message.
