McLaren is set to debut an innovative livery created by artificial intelligence (AI) on their electric cars at the London Formula E title-decider this weekend, marking a groundbreaking moment in motorsport, according to the Saudi-backed team. To commemorate McLaren's 60th anniversary, the team utilized text-to-image AI technology to process input from drivers Rene Rast and Jake Hughes, as well as four participants from sponsor NEOM's graduate development program. Resulting visuals were then combined using image-to-image AI and applied onto the car's exterior. NEOM McLaren claims this to be the first instance of such AI-generated artwork in an FIA-accredited world championship event. The Formula E championship is nearing its culmination, with the final two races taking place in London's Docklands.
Currently, Jake Dennis of Avalanche Andretti leads the championship with a 24-point advantage over Nick Cassidy of Envision Racing. If successful, Dennis would become the first British world champion in the electric city-based series, while Cassidy would be the first-ever New Zealander to achieve this feat. In other news, Mollie O'Callaghan from Australia concluded the World Aquatics Championships in impressive fashion, breaking the long-standing women's swimming world record in the 200 meters freestyle event. O'Callaghan clocked an astounding time of one minute and 52. 85 seconds.
