Attitude plays a significant role in embracing artificial intelligence (AI) in education, and a new survey reveals that students and teachers of color have the most positive attitude towards adopting AI in the classroom. Not only do they have a more favorable attitude, but they also utilize AI tools more frequently compared to their white counterparts. Minority teachers and urban educators, in particular, have high usage rates of AI. While it may be surprising considering the misuse of technology against students of color, the accessibility and potential benefits of AI are attracting minority communities.

The current free availability of generative AI may be a contributing factor, along with a desire to remain competitive and avoid marginalization in a rapidly evolving educational landscape. However, there is still some hesitation and complexity surrounding AI adoption among teachers and students of color. Limited support and lack of training in AI contribute to this hesitancy, but being knowledgeable about AI can help ensure students engage with the technology in a mindful way. It is crucial to empower minority students and prevent their exclusion in the AI revolution through understanding and embracing AI's potential.
