Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Discusses AI Adoption and Market Growth in Recent Interview

Brief news summary

In a recent episode of "The Claman Countdown," Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang discussed the swift evolution of AI and the competitive startup landscape creating advanced AI models. He introduced "agentic AI," which is set for a future reveal, and "physical AI," aimed at enhancing self-driving technology and robotics through the application of physical laws. Huang highlighted a significant surge in investment in AI-driven data centers, referred to as "AI factories," where energy is converted into digital intelligence. He also pointed out the influence of China's DeepSeek startup in the AI field, noting its ability to generate competitive models that increase demand for Nvidia's computing capabilities. Additionally, Huang shared insights from discussions with the Trump administration regarding semiconductor export regulations to China, expressing concerns about performance disparities in Nvidia's technology. This conversation followed Nvidia's impressive earnings report, revealing revenues of $39.3 billion and a net income of nearly $22.1 billion, reflecting substantial year-on-year growth for the company.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang talked about artificial intelligence (AI) and various topics during an interview with Liz Claman on "The Claman Countdown. " Huang, who co-founded the California chipmaker in 1993, informed Claman that "everybody" is "racing" to embrace AI technology. He described the adoption rate as "incredibly fast, " particularly among "core technology builders, model creators, and companies developing consumer-oriented AIs. " He noted that "the frontier models and all the startups aiming to create next-generation frontier models are racing to reach the next level. " Huang mentioned that agentic AI is "developing very nicely" and is "likely to come on next, " with physical AI being the subsequent phase. "This is AI that comprehends the laws of the physical world, understanding concepts like inertia, gravity, cause and effect, and object permanence, which will be utilized in self-driving cars and robotics, " he explained. Huang pointed out that such industries "are emerging in waves" and "building upon one another. " Regarding data centers, he stated that capital expenditures are witnessing "huge growth" compared to the previous year. "The capex not only has increased, but a significant portion is now dedicated to AI, " Huang said during the interview. "We anticipate robust growth this year compared to last and expect substantial build-outs of data centers, which I refer to as AI factories, that will transform energy into digital intelligence. . . We have many years of development ahead of us. " Huang also touched on DeepSeek, a Chinese startup that has released models claimed to be comparable to leading U. S. versions at a much lower cost, and the impact of its technology on AI and Nvidia. This startup has "opened up reasoning AI" and created an entirely new field that consumes vast amounts of Nvidia’s computing power, with a significant number of AI developers utilizing these new model types. He noted that the new generation of AI models has led to "extremely high" demand. During the interview, Huang also reflected on his meeting with President Donald Trump in late January regarding the U. S. 's semiconductor chip export controls to China. He told Claman that Nvidia is "dedicated and eager to collaborate with the Trump administration to reach its goals and wish for the administration’s success. " "However, when comparing Nvidia’s current computers going to China with what we launched this quarter, which was a record-breaking quarter with Grace Blackwell, the performance of technology ranges from 20 to 60 times higher in the U. S. , " he continued.

"Consequently, as time passes, the export-controlled technology is gradually lagging behind. In essence, every passing day results in making that technology slower, " he elaborated. "Thus, I believe these discussions are beneficial, and we’re open to sharing everything we know with the administration to help them make informed decisions. " His conversation with Claman followed the release of Nvidia's fourth-quarter earnings on Wednesday. The company reported $39. 3 billion in revenue during this three-month period, representing a 78% increase from the same quarter last year. Additionally, its net income rose to nearly $22. 1 billion, marking an 80% year-over-year increase. As of Thursday, Nvidia’s market capitalization was approximately $2. 94 trillion.
