To increase accessibility, there is likely to be a reduction in the subscription fee for ChatGPT by 75-85% from the existing $20 per month. The collaboration between Reliance Jio and OpenAI is expected to facilitate the distribution of ChatGPT, according to two sources familiar with the discussions.
However, The Information also stated that it remains uncertain whether OpenAI has negotiated the idea of a price cut with Reliance. Reliance has explored the option of offering OpenAI models to its enterprise clients through an application programming interface (API). Additionally, the conglomerate, led by Mukesh Ambani, is considering hosting and operating OpenAI's models locally to protect the data of its customers and ensure it remains within India. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently mentioned that India represents the company's second-largest market, and revealed that the company has tripled its user base over the past year. Reliance Plans to Construct the World’s Largest Data Center According to reports, Reliance is planning to establish a three-gigawatt data center in Jamnagar, Gujarat, which will host the Meta and OpenAI models, potentially making it one of the largest data centers globally. In recent months, OpenAI executives have had multiple discussions with their counterparts at Reliance regarding a prospective product and sales partnership.
