However, the feature has recently undergone a generative AI setback, with reports indicating its removal from the app after fans discovered errors in the Fallout recap and shared their findings online. The Video Recaps feature combines video clips, sound effects, dialogue snippets, music, and an AI-generated voiceover narration. Amazon explains that the tool "analyzes a season’s key plot points and character arcs to deeply understand the most pivotal moments that will resonate with viewers as they enter the next season. " As previously reported by GamesRadar, a viewer posted on the r/Fallout subreddit highlighting an error in the season one recap, which incorrectly dated Cooper Howard’s flashbacks as occurring in 1950, when they actually take place in 2077. Another viewer described on X an additional AI mistake in the recap: "'Cooper offers Lucy a choice in the finale: die, or join him, ' phrased as if he would be the one to kill her. " Following these reports, multiple outlets observed that the recap feature appears to have vanished from the app.
CNET Senior Editor Corinne Reichert still sees the recap option in her app, but clicking it yields no response. As someone with a poor memory, I’m genuinely hopeful these features will eventually work as intended. Hope springs eternal, after all. Amazon has yet to respond to requests for comment.
