The Open Network (TON), a blockchain closely associated with Telegram, experienced a brief outage on June 1. This disruption was caused by an issue in how the main chain managed its data queue. TON’s developers reported that block production was temporarily halted, but the team implemented a fix promptly. The network was restored within 40 minutes. According to the developers, only a small number of main validators required updates to resume operations.
They also confirmed that no funds were lost and that all transactions during the downtime remained secure. A comprehensive technical report will soon be published to detail the exact cause of the problem. While short outages are common for rapidly expanding blockchain networks handling large volumes of data, they can still raise concerns among users. In this instance, TON’s swift response helped minimize the effects. As Telegram increasingly depends on TON for its cryptocurrency initiatives, the network’s stability will face growing demands. For now, service has returned to normal, but questions regarding long-term reliability are expected to persist.
