WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new generative AI feature that allows users to create personalized avatars of themselves for various settings. The upcoming feature, found in WhatsApp Beta for Android 2. 24. 14. 7 by WABetaInfo, utilizes user-supplied images, text prompts, and Meta's AI Llama model to generate the avatars. According to a shared screenshot, users can envision themselves in settings ranging from the forest to outer space. The generated images resemble those produced by popular AI generators like Lensa AI or Snapchat's "Dreams" selfie feature. To create their personalized avatars, WhatsApp users need to take photos of themselves once, which will then train Meta AI to generate images resembling users in different settings.
Users can generate their avatars by typing "Imagine me" with a description of the desired setting in the Meta AI chat or other WhatsApp conversations by typing "@Meta AI imagine me. . . " Once launched, this feature is expected to be optional, requiring users to enable it manually in WhatsApp settings. WABetaInfo also mentions that reference images can be deleted at any time through the Meta AI settings.
