Apple software leader Craig Federighi explained that they aimed to begin with the best option, referring to ChatGPT, which he believes is the optimal choice for their users at present. Furthermore, industry expert Gene Munster has affirmed that the partnership with Apple is anticipated to double ChatGPT usage, while also projecting a potential 30% to 40% increase in infrastructure costs for OpenAI.
Munster also predicts that a significant percentage of Apple users, between 10% and 20%, may opt to subscribe to a premium AI service such as ChatGPT, which could translate into billions of dollars for AI firms collaborating with Apple Intelligence. Munster emphasized the challenge of obtaining wide-scale distribution and commended Apple's well-established engaged user base.
