Google Expands AI Overviews to Over 100 Countries

This week, Google is expanding its AI Overviews to over 100 countries. These AI-generated search summaries will now be available to users in locations such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Colombia, Chile, the Philippines, Nigeria, and many others. A complete list of the new countries can be found on Google’s website. In every country where they are available, AI Overviews will support various languages, including English, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish.

For example, if you are in the US, you can search in Spanish and receive an AI Overview in that language. Earlier this month, Google introduced ads within AI Overviews for mobile users, but this feature is currently limited to the US. In other locations, ads will still be displayed in designated areas on the page instead of within the AI Overviews. AI Overviews were first launched in the US back in May, and the feature expanded to the UK, India, Japan, Indonesia, Mexico, and Brazil in August. Additionally, Google has begun to highlight cited webpages within AI Overviews more prominently after conducting months of testing.
