Hippocratic AI Launches Healthcare AI Agent App Store for Clinicians

Healthcare-focused firm Hippocratic AI has introduced an app store specifically for its artificial intelligence agents. The newly launched Healthcare AI Agent App Store enables clinicians to design AI agents aimed at enhancing patient care and operational efficiency, as announced in a Thursday (Jan. 9) press release. “Hippocratic AI has always believed that building safe and effective AI is best achieved through collaboration with healthcare providers, ” says Munjal Shah, co-founder and CEO of Hippocratic AI, in the release. “Our collaboration has mainly involved health systems and payors until now. With the launch of our AI Agent App Store, we are also directly engaging with licensed U. S. clinicians to leverage AI’s potential. We truly believe clinicians are the experts. " According to the release, creating an AI agent takes less than 30 minutes.

Afterward, the clinician creator, along with Hippocratic AI staff, conducts safety testing. Clinicians then earn revenue from the usage of their agents by Hippocratic’s customers, receiving 5% of the base fees and 70% of any premium rate set by them. For safety assurance, the process involves three steps. First, the clinician’s license is verified before they create an AI agent. Then, testing is conducted by the clinician and staff. Lastly, further evaluations are carried out by the company’s network of over 6, 000 nurses and 300 doctors. In 2024, investments in AI-driven medical note-taking apps more than doubled, with tech giants and startups eager to enter the $26 billion AI healthcare market. Startups focused on digital "scribes" for the health sector raised $800 million this year, compared to $390 million in 2023. Companies are in a race to introduce AI-powered solutions that streamline medical note-taking and enhance patient interactions. Several high-profile product launches last year aimed to address this need, including Microsoft’s cloud-based AI tools for automating documentation, improving data integration, and boosting patient outcomes. “From AI-powered chatbots handling routine questions to sophisticated algorithms identifying hidden patterns in medical data, these innovations could allow healthcare workers to concentrate more on patient care, ” PYMNTS reported in October.

Brief news summary

Hippocratic AI has introduced a Healthcare AI Agent App Store in the U.S., aimed at helping clinicians quickly develop AI agents to enhance patient care and streamline operations. According to CEO Munjal Shah, these agents can be created in less than 30 minutes and go through rigorous safety checks by both developers and the company's team. Clinicians benefit financially by earning 5% from basic fees and 70% from premium fees generated by their agents. To ensure safety and efficacy, Hippocratic AI verifies clinician licenses and conducts extensive testing, receiving input from more than 6,000 nurses and 300 doctors. In 2024, investment in AI-driven medical note-taking applications reached $800 million, a significant increase from $390 million in 2023. This growth underscores the rising reliance on AI for improved medical documentation and patient communication. Major tech companies like Microsoft are rolling out AI tools to automate tasks like paperwork and data integration, allowing healthcare professionals to devote more attention to patient care. AI technologies, including chatbots and algorithms, are expected to transform healthcare by managing routine inquiries and identifying patterns in medical data, thus revolutionizing healthcare operations.
