Responding to rising demand for stronger privacy controls, Meta introduced a new feature called 'Advanced Chat Privacy' in April 2025. This upgrade offers users enhanced privacy options specifically designed for group chats. A key capability prevents group members from exporting conversations, meaning participants cannot easily share chat histories outside WhatsApp. Additionally, this feature blocks the use of group messages for AI-related purposes, guaranteeing that group conversations are not employed to train Meta’s AI models or any third-party AI systems. Beyond these group protections, WhatsApp continues to uphold its fundamental security measure: end-to-end encryption for all personal chats.
