Here are my beliefs regarding artificial intelligence: I believe that in recent years, A. I. systems have begun to surpass human abilities in various fields—such as mathematics, programming, and medical diagnosis—and are continuously improving. I believe that in the near future—likely by 2026 or 2027, and possibly even this year—one or more A. I. companies will announce the creation of artificial general intelligence (A. G. I. ), which is commonly described as an A. I. capable of performing nearly all cognitive tasks that humans can handle. I believe that the announcement of A. G. I. will spark discussions about its definitions and disputes over its legitimacy as “true” A. G. I. , but these debates are unlikely to matter in the grand scheme.
The overarching reality—that we are no longer the sole possessors of human-level intelligence and are entering a new era dominated by powerful A. I. systems—will stand. I believe that over the coming decade, advanced A. I. will generate trillions in economic value and shift the balance of political and military influence toward the nations that harness it. Most governments and large corporations seem to recognize this, as evidenced by the substantial investments they are making to lead the way.
