Twitter/X no longer displays any search results for Taylor Swift as the White House urges Congress to take action. Following a recent flood of pornographic AI nudes on the platform, searches for "Taylor Swift" on Saturday yielded no results. Additionally, searches for terms like "Taylor Swift nude" or "Taylor Swift AI" also turned up empty. However, searches for more general terms like "Taylor Swift singer" still generated results. This decision by Twitter/X comes after the White House expressed concern over the circulation of false images and called for social media companies to enforce their content management rules regarding the spread of misinformation and non-consensual intimate imagery. Congressman Joe Morelle of New York also cited the Swift nudes as a reason to advocate for legislation that criminalizes the non-consensual sharing of digitally-altered explicit images at a federal level. Twitter/X and other social media platforms attempted to remove the Swift images that went viral on Wednesday. However, new fake images emerged in their place, making enforcement more challenging.

The original images depicted Swift in red body paint engaging in sexual behavior with fans of the Kansas City Chiefs, mocking her relationship with Chief's tight end Travis Kelce. On Sunday, the Chiefs faced off against the Baltimore Ravens in the pivotal AFC Championship game with a Super Bowl spot at stake. Twitter/X CEO Elon Musk has yet to comment on the matter, instead focusing on unrelated topics such as a San Francisco toy store closing due to crime issues. Swift has also remained silent, although unverified reports suggest she is contemplating legal action. On Friday, SAG-AFTRA released a statement expressing concern over the images and calling for legislation to criminalize the creation and dissemination of fake explicit images without consent. The union emphasized the need to act promptly to control such technologies and protect privacy. The issue of deepfakes is also a concern in the upcoming presidential election year, as evidenced by a recent robocall that used a spoofed voice of Joe Biden to influence the New Hampshire primary.
