Climate pledges made by countries and companies are not always honored, leading to continued global warming. Lack of transparency contributes to this issue. However, technology provides tools that allow us to monitor climate activities in real-time. For example, data from satellites and artificial intelligence show that the reported methane emissions from oil and gas producers are significantly lower than the actual amounts. Earth observation technology also reveals the effectiveness of forest conservation projects funded by the voluntary carbon market.

Despite skepticism, the majority of these projects successfully reduce deforestation rates. On the other hand, technology exposes that few signatories of the Global Methane Pledge are fulfilling their commitment to reduce methane emissions. This suggests that such promises are seen as optional, which undermines climate commitments. Climate action should be prioritized, regardless of political disputes, to ensure a secure future. With the upcoming COP conference, commitments need to be firm, enduring, and independent of external circumstances.
