Evening calls sorted into “tomorrow” and “this cannot wait”.
Very little in pest control is a true midnight emergency, and one or two things genuinely are — a nest by the door somebody is allergic to, a sting that has already happened. Everything else is tomorrow's booking that you simply cannot afford to lose overnight. The hard part of the evening is not answering; it is sorting, so that almost nothing wakes anybody and almost nothing is gone by morning.
Two ways an evening goes wrong
One is the phone nobody hears, so a caller books whoever answers first thing tomorrow. The other is the personal number that rings for everything, which teaches you to stop looking at it. Both end with work leaking out of the business, one quietly and one loudly.
You write the rule once
You decide what counts as urgent enough to reach a person tonight and what is booked for tomorrow. The receptionist asks enough to tell them apart, holds the ordinary call as a scheduled inspection or treatment visit with the property details attached, and passes on only what matches the rule you set.
The morning starts sorted
Overnight calls arrive as bookings and records, not as a voicemail queue somebody works through while the first route is already moving. What was promised to each caller is written down, so the day starts from the schedule rather than from guesswork.
After-hours answering — FAQ
When do the after-hours rules start and stop?
At the hours you set. Outside them the line behaves as it does during the day; inside them it follows the evening rule.
What decides that a call reaches me tonight?
Your rule, not its judgement. You describe what deserves a call at ten in the evening, and everything else is captured and booked instead.
Can it book a visit for the morning without asking me?
Yes, into the slots you have left open. The caller ends the evening with a time rather than a promise that someone will ring back.
Does this stop my personal number ringing all night?
That is the point of setting the rule. The line takes everything and passes on only what you said should reach a person after hours.
