Every irrigation contractor leaves the same thing behind: a sticker on the controller box in the garage. Nobody looks at it for two years, and then a zone dies, or a house is sold and new owners are standing in front of a panel they do not understand, reading the only name they have. That sticker is the cheapest lead source in this trade and it is also a trap, because whatever number is printed on it is the number you are stuck with — including when it is a personal mobile.
A personal line cannot be inherited or shared
It cannot be handed to whoever is covering during the startup rush, cannot be answered by two people during the week everybody calls at once, and cannot be taken back when someone leaves. It also cannot tell a call from a sticker apart from a call from a friend — they arrive on the same phone with the same ring, on a Sunday.
A line that belongs to the business

Do I have to give up my current number?
No. The business line is separate; your personal number stays yours and stays private.
Can somebody else answer it during the rush weeks?
Yes — answering is a setting rather than a phone one person has to be carrying, which is the whole point during the two weeks everyone calls at once.
What happens if the technician who installed the system leaves?
The number stays with the business, along with the record of the property and what was done there — so the sticker keeps working.
